Salt Bae brings 24-Carat gold tomahawk steak to London

London, September 28 (HNA) – London diners are now able to get their hands on the 24-Carat gold tomahawk steak at Nusret’s (Salt Bae) London Restaurant at the Park Tower Knightsbridge, which has previously been a menu item in their Dubai branch.

It has been suggested that a Tomahawk Steak – covered in actual gold – will be available for purchase, with an eye-watering £700 price tag attached to it. However, for most of us, the steaks around the £20 mark should suffice.

One diner who previously ate at the restaurant told MailOnline that it was the ‘best steak he’d ever tasted’ but was unsure if it was the gold that made the difference. However, he said that the metallic morsel was certainly more ‘glamorous’ than the average chop and ‘attracted a lot of attention from fellow diners’.

The swanky steak is covered with gold leaf, which is safe to eat as pure gold is chemically inert. This means the precious metal passes through the digestive system without being absorbed into the body.

Salt Bae, real name Nusret Gokce, owns a chain of Nusr-Et restaurants and is known for his theatrical salt-sprinkling antics. He went viral in 2017 after posting videos of himself salting meat and now has more than 34 million Instagram followers.

In a series of preceding Instagram grid posts — the only place Salt Bae does any kind of restaurant announcement — he posted an admirably staged photo of him doing “deep notes” for the imminent opening, replete with sunglasses and stretches of the kind to tax anyone’s brain.

Salt Bae’s London restaurant has been in the works since early 2018, according to Mail Online, in which time he has been slapped with wage theft lawsuits, obtained mixed reviews of his wet-aged wagyu beef, promised gold-embalmed steaks, considered doing burgers in London instead, and, ultimately, not opened a restaurant that is now two-and-a-half-years overdue.
