Istanbul, April 13 (HNA) – Journalists’ Union of Turkey (TGS) announced that collective bargaining negotiations with the international news agencies Reuters and Agence France Presse (AFP) have ended in disagreement.

In a statement, the TGS called on the employers to make a “favourable offer” and warned that if this were not done, the Turkish bureaus of the two news agencies would go on strike:

“Our collective bargaining negotiations at the Reuters Turkey office ended in a dispute at the mediation stage. We make our final call to the employer, who ignored the depreciation of the Turkish lira and offered a 25 percent raise: Either accept our just demands or show us a place for the STRIKE banner.

“The collective bargaining negotiations at the Agence France-Presse @AFP Turkey office ended in a dispute at the mediation stage. We call on the AFP employer for the last time to recognize the economic reality in Turkey and make a reasonable offer. Otherwise, our STRIKE aprons are ready.”
