London, January 1 (HNA) – Food aid was given to 3000 homeless people and low-income families this year as part of the Helping Hands campaign, which is traditionally held every year for the New Year.
Many companies supported the aid campaign led by İbrahim Doğuş, a Labor Party City Council Member and Founding Director of the Center for Turkey Studies (CEFTUS), while MPs Florence Eshalomi, Kate Osborne,
and Christian Wakeford, as well as many journalists and civil society groups. organization manager came together at the Park Plaza Hotel in the center of London and made voluntary contributions for packaging the prepared meals and delivering them to those in need.

Regarding the Helping Hands campaign, Doğuş said, “While thousands of Londoners try to live their lives in very difficult conditions every year, we will further strengthen social solidarity by offering all kinds of support.” Doğuş drew attention to the increasing importance of social solidarity during the Covid-19 epidemic and added:

“I am proud to be supporting the Helping Hands initiative. Behind me, dozens of volunteers are packing up nutritious food parcels to deliver to hungry people here in the heart of London. In the midst of the glittering lights and bustling shops, there are still thousands of people hungry and lonely.

Helping Hands is all about doing something about it. Something practical. Something immediate. Something as simple as a tasty meal, which can make all the difference. It’s been a really hard year for everyone. The pandemic spares no one.

But disadvantaged communities, vulnerable people, people without a roof over their heads – these people suffer even more. So this Christmas, we are offering a Helping Hand. I’d like to thank everyone who donated their money and time this year. I’d like to thank the ‘helping hands’ of HB Reavis, Leos UK, Galliard Homes, Edwin Shuker, Munir Samji, Suleman Raza, Sherbet The Electric Taxi, and Enterprise Cars for getting the meals where they need to go.

Whatever Christmas means to you, whatever traditions you observe, I hope that the Christmas Spirit prompts you to an act of kindness, an act of solidarity, an act of social justice. This year, let’s make it a time to reach out a little further – to our fellow Londoners, our fellow citizens, the people who share our brief time on earth.”
