Deniz Kılınç / London, April 12 (HNA) – Prof. Dr. Mehmet Şükrü Tekbaş is elected the new Chairman of the Turkish Education Foundation’s (TEV) board, in a meeting held on March 17.
TEV, a Turkey-based Foundation which helps young people in need to seek scholarships for 55 years, elected the new members of its board in a meeting on March 17. TEV boursier Prof. Dr. Mehmet Şükrü Tekbaş, who previously acted as the president of the board of trustees and the scholarship commission, was named the new Chairman of the foundation.
Kaya Şener was elected the Vice President of TEV’s board. Meanwhile, Ömer Koç will continue his role as the President of the Board of Trustees. The new board members are: Prof. Dr. Mehmet Şükrü Tekbaş (Chairman), Kaya Şener (Vice President), Fırat Tekin (Member), Dilek Mutuş (Member), Ayşe Botan Berker (Member), Mehmet Ali Neyzi (Member), Özgür Bolat (Member).
Prof. Tekbaş completed his secondary education at Istanbul Erkek High School, his undergraduate education at Istanbul University Faculty of Economics, and received his MBA from Indiana University and his doctorate from Istanbul University. He graduated from the Faculty of Business Administration and was promoted to associate professor and professor positions at the Faculty of Business Administration of Istanbul University. Tekbaş, who worked as a professor at Istanbul University, Istanbul Technical University (ITU), and Turkish German University, was also a guest lecturer at various universities in the US.
Serving as the Chairman of the Capital Markets Board between 1988 and 1992, Prof. Tekbaş served as the Dean of the Faculty of Business Administration at Istanbul University, the Director of the Institute of Business Economics of Istanbul University, the President of the International Academic Relations Board, and the Director of the Capital Markets Research and Application Center (Sermaye Piyasaları Araştırma ve Uygulama Merkezi/SERPAM), which he founded.
Tekbaş also takes part on the boards of various industry organizations such as the Istanbul Erkek Liseliler Eğitim Vakfı, Denmark-based Garring Foundation, and the Turkish Capital Markets Association. As a member of the Board of Trustees of the Turkish Education Foundation (TEV), Tekbaş continues to contribute to the foundation as a boursier and chairman.
